He has been practising as a pensions lawyer for over 25 years. He is currently also a consultant for a number of well-respected corporate law firms. Prior to becoming a lawyer Trevor spent 12 years in the insurance industry where he specialised in life assurance and pensions qualifying as an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. He is currently recognised as a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and in the past has lectured students sitting the Chartered Insurance Institute examinations. He graduated in law with a 2:1 LLB honours at Birmingham University and qualified as a solicitor at Edge & Ellison (now Hammonds) in 1984.

He has practised as a partner at several major law Edge & Ellison (now Hammonds), Simpson Curtis (now Pinsents including as Director, Simpson Curtis Pension Trustees Limited) and Garretts/Anderson Legal where he built pensions departments from ‘greenfield sites’. He is a founder (and continuing) member of the Association of Pension Lawyers (“APL”) (1984) and the only regional lawyer on the main committee of the APL during six years of committee service. He has been a tutor at Birmingham University Law Faculty (1981-1983) and been a speaker at APL conferences.

As well as practising as a pension lawyer providing legal advice Trevor has also been involved in pension scheme trusteeship over the course of his career. In 1986 he was recognised by the Inland Revenue as a pensioneer trustee being a specialist trustee which until 2006 was a mandatory requirement for tax approval of small self-administered pension schemes. He was also Managing Director of Simpson Curtis Pension Trustees Limited which acted as an independent trustee of final salary pension schemes and in which capacity he has been successful in High Court Litigation. Currently he is Managing Director of The Pensions Lawyers Trustee Company which is a legal practice regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority providing independent pension trustee services.

Trevor provides a full range of pension law services including dealing with pension disputes. He has experience of High Court pensions litigation, settlement of pension disputes by formal Mediation and he also deals with Pension Ombudsman disputes and is one of a small number of Pension Lawyers who has acted for a client at a Pensions Ombudsman’s oral hearing (since almost all Ombudsman’s investigations are dealt with in writing).

Trevor has always devoted much of his spare time to sport. He is a “BASI” qualified ski instructor ( British Association of Snowsports Instructors) and a one-time first class rugby player (Moseley, Birmingham and North Midlands). When he is not on the ski slopes he keeps fit by mountain biking and canoeing.
